The Bitpanda Hamburg Open has its first finalists, with Andreas Molteni/Fernando Romboli meeting Simone Bolelli/Andrea Vavassori in the doubles final on Saturday.

In the semi-finals on the center court, the top seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten experienced a bitter surprise and were eliminated after losing 6:1, 1:6 and 10:12 to Molteni and Romboli. In the first set in particular, it had looked like the Finnish-British duo were on their way.

The Italian duo of Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori then followed suit on the increasingly crowded center court. With spectacular stops and perfectly coordinated teamwork, the Italians, who had reached the final at the Australian Open in January, beat Great Britain’s Joe Salisbury/Neal Skupski 6:3 and 6:1 after just 1:06 hours.
