Fantastic news for all German tennis fans: Alexander Zverev, Germany’s top tennis player and current world No. 3, will compete at the prestigious ATP 500 tournament at Rothenbaum from 16 to 23 May 2026. For the Hamburg-born star, the Bitpanda Hamburg Open is a special highlight on the calendar – and another opportunity to claim the title at the iconic clay-court event at Hallerstraße.
Zverev has been one of the most consistent world-class players on the ATP Tour for years. In 2025, he won the ATP 500 tournament in Munich, reached the final of the Australian Open, and for the eighth time qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, the season-ending showdown of the world’s top eight players. He also recently led the German Davis Cup team to the semifinals in Bologna. Zverev’s connection to Hamburg’s historic Center Court runs deep: his debut on the ATP Tour in 2013, the 2023 title, the 2024 final, all reflect his long-standing bond with the Rothenbaum event.
“I’m very happy that I’ll be back for the 2026 Bitpanda Hamburg Open. Competing at home is always special for me, and I can already feel the incredible energy that the Hamburg crowd brings every single year at Rothenbaum”, comments Zverev on his return in 2026.
Bitpanda Hamburg Open Tournament Director Enric Molina Mur emphasizes the importance of Zverev’s commitment: “Having Alexander Zverev return to the Bitpanda Hamburg Open is fantastic news for the tournament and for tennis fans across Germany. Sascha is our home star, one of the biggest global names in the sport and his presence always creates a special atmosphere at Rothenbaum. His commitment to our tournament is highly appreciated and we are very happy to announce him as our first player confirmed for what promises to be an outstanding week of world-class tennis in May 2026!”
In the coming weeks and months, fans can look forward to further announcements of world class players for the Bitpanda Hamburg Open. This traditional clay-court event is one of the most prestigious ATP 500 tournaments worldwide and will be organized by Tennium for the third time in 2026.
